Online Support and Information for Your Teen


One way to help your teenager with her period is to give her the information she needs. Because you cannot possibly remember everything, it can help to find professional services online to provide support and information for your teen. Lets look at some places you can access this type of support.

* Kidshealth.org  This site has a variety of information for both parents and kids, including information about periods. But they also offer so much more for your kids and you to support you in raising responsible, happy adults.

* The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists  This site gives a lot of useful information to both parents and teenagers. Everything is laid forward without judgment and is accurate with sources and research to back them up.

* BeGirl.org  This organization is here to support girls and to help girls find period protection on their own terms. They sell period panties, but they use some of the funds to support their organization to help girls all over the world.

* Daysforgirls.org  This organization helps girls everywhere have a kit to take care of themselves during their period when its not readily available. A lot of people dont realize that women all over the world (even in the USA) cannot access products. This means they are trapped at home and cannot go to school or work.

* MyFirstPeriod.co  They sell a period kit to give to every girl before when she starts so that shes always ready. They have a supportive Facebook page too. While they do sell something, there is a lot of information and support here.

* Girls Helping Girls. Period  This organization believes that feminine hygiene is about basic health. So many women do not have access and help with periods, even pads or tampons. This group is helping eliminate that problem by collecting and distributing products.

* Period.org  They are also involved in the fight to ensure all girls have access to period products so they can work and study without concern. They also like to stress that all women have periods, which means half the population, so the stigma of a period should end.

* Knixteen  This organization is for all teens and parents so they can learn about their periods (or their friends period), find good period products for teenagers, and show them how it works and how to care for everything properly to be healthy. This site is transgender friendly.

Finding online support and information for your teen is as easy as doing a Google search. However, do check out each place to make sure it lives up to your values and is scientific in nature. You dont want to inadvertently share myths that you learned growing up that have been disproved now.
